Kansas City Spring Break Activities

Looking for some fun ideas, activities and places to visit for Spring Break?

If you have a few hours…

Visit the Library

All the area libraries have fun Spring Break activities, some are offering St. Patrick’s fun too.

And browse the shelves for some great books and fun movies (check out Book-to-Movie Guide

for more than 100+ family favorites!)

Get out for Playtime

Enjoy some time at Kidscape or Crown Center’s Fairy Tale Village – both have wonderful places for the kids to explore, climb, play and enjoy!

Create some art at Kaleidoscope during one of their family sessions.

Enjoy a Little History

Mahaffie Stagecoach has some great Spring Break on the Farm days!  Enjoy Living History Days on March 19th – 21st from 10 am – 4 pm.

Feed the Bison – grabe some carrots or apples and head over to the Native Hoofed Animal Enclosure to feed the animals!

If you have half a day…

Head out to one of our great Nature Centers

Hike the trails, do hands-on activities, visit with the animals (check ahead to see if there’s a storytime or workshop you want to attend during your visit).

Burr Oak Woods in Blue Springs has a lot of great trails and usually runs some fun nature movies too.

Ernie Miller Nature Center in Olathe will have Spring workshops all week long – plus a wonderful touch room and many animal friends to see.

Tour the WWI Museum

Explore some great history at the country’s only World War I Museum!  Kids will enjoy seeing the trench exhibit, looking throught the periscope, playing with the light tables and more.

You can also grab a snack and (if the weather cooperates) view the city from the top of the Liberty Memorial.

Visit the Animals

The Kansas City Zoo is a wonderful place to spend part of the day.  If it’s warmer, see the sea lions and tour Australia (ride the train for a little extra fun!).  And have you seen the new Tiger area – very cool!!

If it’s a little cooler, explore the INDOOR exhibits – the Rainforest, Discovery Barn and snake building.

Harry Truman Library

Another great location to tour on Spring Break is the Harry Truman Library and Museum.  Older kids will see many familiar historical events shared in the exhibits.  Younger kids will love the hands-on activities and play area that tell more about Harry & Bess’ life in Kansas City.
