Create your own ocean zones in a jar to explore habitat, sea animals & deep sea creatures. We’ve been enjoying some fun books about the ocean and marine animals this summer. My kids have always been big fans of sea life. There are so many wonderful creatures that live in the oceans and did you …
Be Creative
I’m sure you can remember yourself singing the ABC song at some point in your life. It’s one of the most popular and well-known songs {in fact, just my mention probably has it running through your head right now}. As parents, we devote a lot of time in helping our kids to learn the fundamentals …
Today we are exploring Moon Activities for Kids in preschool, kindergarten and first grade (older kids will enjoy them too!) as we wrap up our Discover & Explore Moon, Stars and Nighttime Sky. We had some really creative ideas for teaching your kids about the moon shared last week so I wanted to feature some …
If you’re still not sure what to get the kids (your kids, nieces, nephews or grandkids) this year, skip the electronics and go for a classic gift that will inspire them to be creative. Most of these ideas will also work as fun stocking stuffers!

My kids just LOVE countdown calendars! “How many more days until…” — it’s always so much easier to wait if you have something fun to do 🙂
So, a few years ago, we created a countdown calendar for Halloween.
I’m a toss-the-kids-out-the-door kind of parent. Children (along with teens and adults for that matter) just don’t get enough time outside these days. I can remember enjoying some wonderfully long days climbing trees, skating, creating, digging & exploring.
But I grew up with siblings and neighbors that were all close in age. My daughter doesn’t have the luxury of playmates knocking at her door.
So lately I’ve been looking for ways to entice her to spend more time outside. Since she really enjoys crafts and also likes to be surprised, we decided to create an Outdoor Activity Jar.
The Easter Bunny has visited our house for more than 14 years, each time hiding a bunch of (plastic) eggs. I hate throwing things out — so with more than 100 of these crazy things in the house, I really needed to find some good ways to put them to use. Here are some fun & practical ways to recycle plastic eggs.
We love spending time outdoors during the summer! Well, I LOVE to be outside no matter what! The kids really enjoy it as long as there’s something fun to do.
During our Discover & Explore Backyard Games linky, we had some absolutely AWESOME ideas shared for how to make your backyard a creative fun zone this summer!
This week’s theme for the Discover & Explore linky is Flowers!
I love to mix in nature items when we create art projects. There’s something about the contrasting textures that I think look so cool when the picture is complete. And when flowers are included in the project, there is also some wonderful sensory and science learning that happens too!
As a child, I loved the idea that ‘little people’ might be living in our house. Books like “The Borrowers” and “The Littles” allowed for much imagination and creative thinking. If your planning to see “The Secret World of Arrietty”, here are a few fun ideas and resources!
