It’s going to be quite a week — our country will celebrate both Election Day & Veteran’s Day. These are two days that are very important to discuss with kids but many times kids aren’t old enough to understand their significance.
Books for Kids
We have a running joke in our house about the ‘bigger half’. My daughter started it when she was younger — we would ask if she wanted to split a sandwich or cookie with someone and her reply was always “Yes, but I want the bigger half!” We tried to explain that half meant two …
Entice your kids into more reading time with these fun holiday-themed Early Reader (ER) books & tips that are perfect for beginner readers! I’ve shared before about some of the struggles we had when our kids first started reading independently. If you have kids who are learning to read on their own then you know …

The perfect day to have some fun searching for hidden ‘treasure’, playing dress-up, reading a few good books and even enjoying a family movie together. And we have everything you’ll need for this fun day in our Kids Activities Pirate Blog Hop …
When do you do storytime at your house? I know most families (ours included!) choose to read right before naptime or bedtime. The kids are winding down and it’s a great opportunity to snuggle up with a story. That’s usually when we do most of our reading. BUT — at one time in our house, …
