While I’m a BIG fan of Halloween and all the fun that goes along with it, I’m always bothered by the amount of candy we accumulate during all the holiday festivities.
Let’s see, there’s the trick-or-treat event at the zoo (we love the zoo in the Fall!), the kids’ class parties, all the “You’ve been Boo’d” notes we find on our door and then the candy from Halloween night.
We accumulate a LOT of treats — so much so that we usually need to find ways to get rid of the extra candy.
So I am always on the look-out for some non-candy treat options — especially ones that I can use as fun ‘treats’ for those special kids in my life (my own, neices, nephews, neighbors, etc).
Fun Non-Candy Treats for Halloween
One of the really ‘cool’ (no pun intended 😉 non-candy treats available are the coupon books for Free Jr. Frosty’s!
I have a fondness for this treat for a few reasons —
My first job as a teenager was at a Wendy’s® resturant! I was 16 and they had just built a new on in our town. The store was hiring and I got my first job (so exciting when you’re young and broke, right 😉 I loved the people I worked with and had a wonderful first employment experience.
I’m also very grateful to Wendy’s® because their Frosty™ was one of my Nan’s most favorite treats! When she moved into a nursing home near me, I would pick her up each week so we could run errands together. And I always stopped to get her a Frosty after lunch (you’re never too old to enjoy one 😉
In October, you can purchase a Wendy’s® Halloween Coupon Book for $1 at participating Wendy’s to support foster care adoption.
Each booklet contains coupons (*) for free Jr. Frosty™ which you can give out as treats on Halloween, use as party favors, teacher gifts, stocking stuffers or as a fun way to brighten someone’s day!
I love to pair the coupons with something special so I’ve created a few ideas to show you —
A colorful set of Washable Kids Paint, a mini-pumpkin and a Jr. Frosty™ make for a great Art Date with the kids!
Halloween always reminds me that winter is not far behind so matching up a Jr. Frosty™ coupon with a fun pair of mittens or super-soft socks is perfect for kids, tweens or even grandma 😉
And for a quick and easy treat, choose some of the printable games & activities from our 31 Free Printables for Halloween to use as the kids countdown the days until Halloween. You’ll find scavenger hunts, jokes, paper decorations and more!
Be sure to visit your local Wendy’s® to purchase a Jr. Frosty™ Halloween Coupon Book* for $1, which benefits the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®!
Wendy’s® aims to give $10 million to The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption® so get out and be one of those who makes a difference in the lives of others!
