About KCEdventures.com & Edventures with Kids blog (owned and operated by KC Edventures, LLC)

KC Edventures.com & Edventures with Kids blog are online resources for adults who wish to experience learning adventures with their children or students. The sites were founded in 2013 by Jacquie Fisher to assist busy parents and educators who are raising creative & curious kids.  We offer parents, educators, home school instructors, caregivers and grandparents content including book lists, parenting tips, educational activities, printable resources and detailed reviews of family travel resources & attractions.

What Information Will Be Collected?

User Provided Information — this refers to any information that you voluntarily enter into our website:

  • NEWSLETTER: When registering for the newsletter or any of our free printable items, you must provide your first name and email address. Most of our printable resources are stored in the cloud due to file size and are only sent to you via email if you specifically request the item so this is why we collect these details. This information is collected via ConvertKit, our email service provider.  Please refer to the ConvertKit Privacy Policy if you have questions about their data storage. You may choose to unsubscribe from our newsletter or emails at any time using the ‘unsubscribe’ link provided at the bottom of every newsletter & email sent to you.
  • COMMENTS: When leaving a comment on our site, you may choose to use an alias (for anonimity) or to leave a name, email address or website url.  We strongly encourage you NOT to leave any personal information in comments such as an address or names/ages of your children.  Only your name will be visible to others with your comment; your other information remains in our database and is NOT passed on to any third parties.  You may request that we delete your comment and remove you from our database by emailing us at [email protected] Please allow 4 weeks for your information to be removed from our sites.
  • PRODUCTS: We offer our own printable products & books for sale on our website.  In order to purchase an item, you must enter your name, email and a payment so the item can be deliverd to you electronically.  We use the SendOwl platform for all product sales and offer payment options via Paypal or Stripe (for credit cards).  We retain your name and email at SendOwl so that you can download your products and we are able to send you product updates for items that have lifetime access. Please refer to Stripe’s Privacy Policy or Paypal’s Privacy Policy for details on how they use/store your information.  Products sold via our Affiliates may collect and retain your personal data once you click away from our site and enter their site.  Once you leave our site, we do not receive any data from these affiliates and have no control over what they collect.  Please be sure to read the privacy policy of each site when you first visit to know how your data is being used.
  • GIVEAWAYS: Occasionally, we will offer a giveaway to our readers.  Anyone who wishes to enter will need to use the comment section on the giveaway post and provide their first name and email address. Winners of any giveaway item will need to voluntarily provide their postal mailing address ONLY via a personal email request to KCEdventures.com.  This information may need to be passed on to the business who is mailing out the giveaway prizes.  KCEdventures.com does NOT store this information once your prize is mailed.  We will fully inform any winner of who is receiving their information and provide direct contact to the brand or business so you can ask how your mailing address is used, stored or deleted from their system.
  • SURVEYS: From time to time, we may ask you to respond to optional surveys or other requests for information and we collect the information you provide. We may also collect information from you when you participate in special offers or promotions that are offered on our website or through our email communications. All personally identifiable information that you provide us may become part of your KCEdventures profile, and may be used by KCEdventures as provided in this Privacy Policy, as disclosed to you at the time you provide the information or as otherwise agreed to by you.

Information Collected via Third Party Providers

Server Logs and Aggregated Data: Like most website servers, we collect information from all visitors to our Site via third-party providers such as Google Analytics. This information may include the browser you are using, the internet address from which you linked to our Site, the operating system of your computer, the IP (internet protocol) address of the computer you used to access our Site, and usage and browsing habits on the site. KCEdventures.com uses this information to help diagnose and troubleshoot server malfunctions, to analyze trends, track aggregate user details, and gather broad demographic information. Aggregate data refers to data that does not contain any personally identifiable information.

Cookies: To make sure you receive the information that’s most important to you, our site uses Google Analytics to track statistics regarding our audience and Website traffic. These cookies do not contain any personal information but instead help us to identify you as a previous visitor to our site, and customize your experience when you arrive at our sites based on the information you have provided to us. Our website also serves online advertisements via Mediavine, an online advertising company, who may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site.  These cookies and technologies are used analyze overall demographic and usage patterns, provide you with targeted advertisements and authenticate you to the server.

You may instruct your web browser to not accept cookies; however, in doing so, you may not be able to properly use or view some of the features on our Site.

How Will Your Information Be Used?

Any information provided by you for a specific purpose (eg. to request a free printable, to buy a product) will be used only for the requested purpose.  For example, if you request to be put on our weekly newsletter list, we will send you the newsletter but will NOT automatically send you each of the free printable items – you will need to request those individually.  Likewise, if you buy a product, we will use the information to provide you with the product but will not add you to our email list.

If you choose to register with KCEdventures.com as a member or user of the site, you will create your own profile.

As shown during registration, specific information that you CHOOSE to provide (such as your user name, email, or geographic location) will be displayed to other visitors and members of the Site. Your real name will ONLY displayed on the Site if choose to use it as your user name.

Please keep in mind that certain personal information that you voluntarily provide are displayed on our Site, especially in the Blog comment areas, and are therefore visible to our visitors and members. Because this information is publically viewable, you can choose to use only your first name or an alias when leaving a comment.  We have the right, but not the obligation, to monitor any activity and content associated with the public and private forums, and other publicly accessible areas, of our Site.

KCEdventures.com may send you email newsletters, email communications and special offers from advertisers and sponsors, if you specifically and voluntarily choose to register for these opportunities.

How Do We Protect the Privacy of Children?

Although much of the information shown on our Site is intended for use with children, we do not encourage children (defined as anyone ages 17 or under) to visit or use our site without supervision from an adult age 18 or older. We do not allow minors to join as members of our Site, and we encourage any posting of comments on our blog or forums to be done by adults. If children have comments or feedback, we welcome them; however, we recommend that their parent or guardian post on their behalf.  If we believe a comment has been left by a minor, we will choose to not publish that comment.

The only personal information we may collect on your child would be provided by you as a member of our site. Information would be limited to your child’s first name (or nickname or alias) and age. This information is stored in your profile, and allows us to provide you with edventure guides and information based on your child’s age. This information is never shared with third parties and is completely voluntary.

What Security Measures Are Used to Protect Your Information?

KCEdventures.com has multiple layers of security to ensure that any personally identifiable information we receive is secure against unauthorized access. The Site uses software and hardware security, including firewalls and a dedicated server account that are intended to protect your information. We use firewalls and intrusion-detection devices that are designed to defend against hackers and notify us if any attempts are made to compromise our network.

We work with Convertkit to provide our email communications. When choosing third-party providers for our email communications, we review their security measures and procedures, and choose to work only with those companies that provide multiple levels of protection for your personal information.

We regularly review and upgrade our software to enhance our security measures. However, despite our best efforts, no system can be completely protected from unauthorized access, and your use of the Site indicates that you are willing to assume this risk.

Will Your Information Be Shared With Others?
