It’s summertime, which for many families also means some travel fun too! We are a big traveling family — for as long as I can remember, we’ve taken a summer vacation. When I was younger, my parents would toss all three kids (along with a heaping pile of pillows and blankets) into the back of the station wagon. Yep, no seat belt laws back then. Sometimes we’d visit family and other times we would head to someplace new.
Now we do the same thing with our kids (still a heaping pile of pillows and blankets but now seat belted in the back). And one other thing hasn’t changed — gathering souvenirs from our travels.
We’re gearing up for our annual family vacation and this year we are heading for the ocean!
Woohoo!
Being from the dead middle of the U.S. means that we’re all pretty excited about spending some time near the big blue sea.
As we’re prepping for our trip, I’m keeping an eye out for some great ocean activities to do while we’re there. And we had some really cute ones that were shared during last week’s Discover & Explore Animals linky.
This week’s theme for the Discover & Explore linky is Flowers!
I love to mix in nature items when we create art projects. There’s something about the contrasting textures that I think look so cool when the picture is complete. And when flowers are included in the project, there is also some wonderful sensory and science learning that happens too!
My kids love to learn how things work! You will frequently find them taking things apart or weilding a screwdriver to help Dad with projects around the house. And yes, we have had our own share of mishaps as a result of their explorations — but we’ve learned that those broken items are just a …
Spring is coming! It is — I promise 🙂 So today we have an awesome list of outdoor activities, nature crafts and games — 50 ways to enjoy the outdoors. Because with Spring comes that super nice weather (not too cold, not too hot), those perfect days when we can open the windows, listen to …
“I participated in an Influencer Activation Program on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Kohl’s. I received a promotional item to facilitate my review.
This week, I’ve been working with Kohl’s on their #DestinationSummer project because summer is just an awesome time to get out and do fun things with the kids!
We have one more special summer item to share and it’s about one of my favorite places on Earth — the second Disney Planes movie is coming out this summer!
I’ve always loved reindeer! And I’ve been lucky enough to see a few in my lifetime too – many thanks to the zoos who have had them on exhibit during a visit.
I’m sure one of the reasons they are so intriguing to kids is that they’re pretty scarce where most of us live, so I thought I’d pull together a round-up of reindeer fun — facts, crafts and activities – that kids can enjoy as they explore these beautiful creatures.
Today is our Poppins Book Nook club and this month we are celebrating the four seasons.
Each month, a group of creative bloggers shares some excellent kids books based on the monthly theme and matches them with some fun projects to bring the books to life.
We wanted to make something different for Halloween this year. We’ve done bats and ghosts and pumpkins — lots of pumpkins!
So this Halloween, I decided to try some Mummy Garland!
I love it because it involves folding, tracing, cutting and creating — perfect for kids of all ages with lots of ways to practice fine motor skills.
