Right now, it’s 2 degrees outside and I am *wishing* for a day at the beach. Anyone else with me? There’s nothing more fun that turning a day on its heels and just totally doing the opposite of what’s around you. Like ‘visiting an island’ instead of shoveling snow off the driveway 🙂 Not to …
Books & Reading
I’m so excited to introduce a new series this week —
The ABC’s of Family Field Trips!
This will be a 5 day series covering all kinds of tips and ideas for those fun family outings you want to plan this year.
I really want to help you get prepared for some great family trips this year by offering resources to help get you ready, along with new ideas for some cool places to visit!
I’m so excited to be joining more than 20 other kid bloggers to host a virtual (online) book club for kids! Really, it’s a book club for families – a great way to introduce kids to wonderful authors, quality books and fun activities.
Today our Discover & Explore topic is Things that Go! This is always a favorite topic for young kids — cars, planes, boats, trains — anything they can ride, drive or fly. It’s always fun to take kids on a new adventure whether it’s their first train ride, flight on a plane or boat tour. …
I know what you’re thinking — reading is a stationary activity. Fortunately, that’s not always the case.
There are a number of terrific kids books that encourage the reader to get up and move with the story! These 10 reads are a great way to get the kids moving and introduce them to ways they can strengthen their muscles, balance and large motor skills.
And once their done ‘reading’, they will surely settle in for some much needed rest 😉
There will be a lot of reading going on over the next week –
World Book Day is March 1st
Read Across America (Dr. Suess’s birthday) is March 2nd
World Read-aloud Day is March 7th
When is a book not a book?
When it’s an inspiration for a really awesome activity!
As I was browsing through the Discover & Explore linky from last week, I was blown away by some of the great ideas that were inspired by kids books.
You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day. Kids will revel in learning how snakes, leprechauns and four-leaf clovers are celebrated on this holiday.
We are joining our book loving friends today as the Poppins Book Nook heads to Ancient Greece!
There’s something so intriguing about traveling into the past. We’ve loved exploring the some of the ancient cultures and customs of past societies but especially Ancient Greece. My daughter is a huge fan of Percy Jackson and knows all the myths by heart (I am schooled weekly on some of the details).
So to honor all the Gods & Goddesses, we’ve rounded up some great books & fun activities so you too can introduce your kids to the stories and secrets of Ancient Greece!
Birthday season is coming for our family.
Well, make that Birthday Season for everyone in my family BUT me.
I celebrated my special day last month – super great day! The kids made me pancakes and I didn’t have to run one errand all day long (now that’s a birthday).
So Spring is my time to focus on creating special days for my family.
